Professional Profile

My name is Kirsty and I am a fully qualified and BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist working with Think CBT online from my consulting rooms in Bedford.

My skills, interests and experience are primarily in eating disorders, depression and anxiety disorders. I work with adults and adolescents (aged 18+).

I am a fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with the BABCP and have worked in eating disorders services for a number of years as both a trainee and a qualified clinician. I have also worked within IAPT as both a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and CBT therapist delivering evidence-based CBT interventions for varying severities of depression and anxiety disorders including trauma.

I have over 8 years’ experience working in NHS mental health settings across primary care, inpatient, day patient and outpatient settings. I am also trained in enhanced CBT for eating disorders (CBT-E) and CBT for personality disorders (CBTpd). My Masters in Health Psychology ensures my ability to incorporate both the physical and psychological aspects of treatment required in the treatment of eating disorders and in working with those with depression and/or anxiety disorders with long term physical health problems.

It is not usual to feel lost and stuck in your illness, and it can feel anxiety provoking and frightening when initially asking for help. You may feel conflicted about letting go of your illness as you may feel it helps you out and protects you at times - this is not uncommon - and we will spend some time at the start of therapy understanding what is keeping you stuck and working through some of these conflicting feelings in order to decide together the best ways to move forwards.

Whilst CBT is my main model of therapy, I like to consider myself as a relational therapist, incorporating training from Cognitive Analytic and Compassion Focused therapies into my work in order to build strong working relationships with my patients, to aid you to begin to make changes to feel better, as well as working towards goals which are both realistic and important to you.

Due to my extensive experience working in mental health and my training in a variety of therapies, I am able to work holistically with you, to personalise the treatment to you, whilst also keeping in mind what is evidence based to support you in giving you the best chance of recovery.

I offer evening appointments over Zoom video call. I am not currently offering face to face sessions but plan to do so in the upcoming months should there be requests for this. I am based in Bedford so appointments would be in the Bedfordshire area.

Please get in contact if you wish to discuss further and consider if we may be a good fit.
