Hi! My name is Richard, and I am an accredited CBT Therapist with BABCP. The most common question I get is "Why did you decide to become a Therapist To be honest, my joy is to be able to help and support people through their difficult times. I understand that everyone has their own story and their own battle that they are facing so my goal is to be an attentive and helpful listening ear.
I earned my first degree as Registered Mental Health Nurse from University of Birmingham and completed my PGD in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) at Birmingham University. I have worked in a variety of settings throughout my career these include working with Royal Navy (MOD) for over 10 years. NHS within IAPT settings, Crisis Teams, and RAID teams as a Nurse. I have also worked in private settings as CBT and Registered Nurse. This experience has equipped me with knowledge and skills to work with clients who have experienced Trauma, Depression, OCD, Panic, Phobias, General Anxiety and Low confidence. I relate their feelings to my own and this motivates me
My style is one of support, honesty, understanding, and non-judgment. My goal is to help each client free him-, her-, or themselves from the heavy burdens they carry and move on to a life of happiness, joy, and fulfilment. I continue to educate myself and attend seminars to keep me up to date with the latest trends in therapy. My style is very laid back and open. I am very warm, empathetic with a great sense of humour. I want you to feel relaxed and comfortable
Thank you for visiting my page. I am looking forward to developing a therapeutic relationship that will help you make those positive changes in your life.
