My name is Heather, I am a fully qualified and fully BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist working with Think CBT in Sheffield. I deliver sessions online and face to face and have early/late evening appointments available.
Working on problems in therapy can be difficult and emotional, however it can also be inspirational and empowering. My warm, supportive and compassionate approach will help to put you at ease and reassure you that you have made the right decision. I prioritise forming a good therapeutic relationship with you and ensure you have the time and space to explore your thoughts and feelings. I will help you to achieve a deeper understanding of the problem and agree a treatment plan with you. From this we will work together on the problem using CBT techniques most relevant to you. I will support you in learning, practicing and using the techniques and integrating them into your daily life to help to empower you to achieve your goals and overcome the problem. This approach will also provide you with a toolkit of information, greater understanding of yourself and techniques, that you will be able to refer to and use again, should future difficulties arise.
I have particular interest and experience in working with anxiety problems such as obsessive-compulsive disorder and social anxiety, low self-esteem and also women experiencing difficulties in the post-natal period.
I am also experienced in working with a wide range of other mental health problems including:
- generalised anxiety
- panic disorder
- post-traumatic stress disorder
- health anxiety.
My background includes 12 years experience working in NHS Mental Health Services with a diverse range of people from different backgrounds. I spent the first year of my mental health career supporting people with severe mental health problems. For the last 11 years, I have been delivering therapy to NHS patients as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and for the last 5 years, as a fully qualified and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I continue to work in this role in the NHS alongside working for Think CBT and other private work.
