Professional Profile
My name is Adam and I am a fully qualified Counselling Psychologist working with Think CBT online from my consulting rooms in Banbury (OX16).
I have practiced talking therapy for more than 20 years within the NHS, in the voluntary sector and in private practice, where I have worked as a clinician, supervisor of fellow psychologists & CBT Therapists and as a Team Manager.
I have been offering online based therapy since 2011 and in my clinical work I follow the Code of Ethics and Conduct of the British Psychological Society.
In terms of my professional credentials, I am a Chartered , Health & Care Professions Council registered Counselling Psychologist and divisional member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
I have pursued specialisms in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and a Clinical Supervisor in these therapeutic approaches. I am also an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) practitioner.
Working within the NHS, voluntary sector and in private practice I have gained experience and have a keen interest in working with a range of problems we may face as human's - including difficulties with Anger, Assertiveness and Communications, Bereavement Loss and Adjustment Disorder, Depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Health Anxiety, Insomnia (I am CBT-I trained), Low Self Esteem and difficulties with Perfectionism, Shame and Self Criticism, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Impulse Control Disorders, Panic and Agoraphobia, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Relationship problems, Social Anxiety andSpecific Phobias.
My approach to therapy incorporates three strands, which include - evidence based practice, offering therapies that have existing demonstrated effectiveness. I combine this with practice based evidence, which draws on my expertise as a therapist learning from you about what works for you. Reflective practice, where I regularly review the therapy work with you outside of our meetings and make use of my own clinical supervision, in order to maintain a high clinical standard.
Away from my work with clients, I practice Tai Chi Chih, Qigong, and Wing Chun, and have an interest in the wellbeing benefits of movement and connection with nature.
I believe that life must ever be a giver unto life. This belief drives me to apply my experience to helping people to explore ways of understanding their struggles, and ways to living more resourcefully and towards a greater well-being.
My regular Cognitive Behavioural Therapy clinics are online between Tuesday and Saturday via Skype, WebEx and Zoom. I offer a professional and friendly service and invite you to make contact with me if you are ready to begin your therapy journey. I look forward to hearing from you.
