Professional Profile

My name is Gemma and I am a fully qualified and BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist working with Think CBT from my consulting rooms in Wolverhampton (WV10).

I have over 17 years' experience delivering evidence-based psychological therapies within the NHS and in the past few years, also private practice.

I am trained as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) therapist and am fully accredited with the BABCP.

Within my practice I also incorporate other therapeutic techniques such as, REBT (rational emotive behavioural therapy), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), CFT (compassion focused therapy) and mindfulness.

My practice is driven by the belief that we are able to influence our mind and become more in charge of it. While I ensure I use evidence based techniques, I often apply transdiagnostic approaches, which can help with a number of different symptoms as oppose to a diagnostic driven approach.

I have a flexible approach and aim to help you to increase insight into what may have contributed to any difficulties and things that can contribute to the maintenance of problems - for example, anxiety, depression etc. The aim is also to help to build a range of skills and techniques which you can begin to apply more independently to help manage any symptoms and hopefully help to prevent further similar difficulties.

I am keen to help you achieve your goals for therapy in a timely manner.

I have extensive experience of difficulties such as, stress, generalised anxiety, depression, panic, OCD, social anxiety, health anxiety, specific phobias, trauma & PTSD and low self-worth.

I currently offer telephone sessions and video call sessions via Zoom. I find that most people can really benefit from this style of therapy, which can offer additional benefits, such as cutting out any travel time and not being restricted to options only in your local area.
