My name is Emily, and I am a fully qualified and BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist working with Think CBT in East Kent. I am currently providing treatment remotely via Zoom.
I trained as a High Intensity CBT therapist within an Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service in East Kent. As part of this role, I delivered 1:1 cognitive behavioural therapy to adults aged 17 and up. I originally trained working face to face but more recently have adapted my practice to being fully remote.
I currently work in private practice and teach at a university supporting individuals to become qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners.
I have experience supporting clients with a range of difficulties including Depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety Disorder, Health Anxiety, Obsessive compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I also have additional training in supporting individuals with long-term physical health conditions such as Diabetes, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Chronic Pain and Coronary Heart Disease.
My approach is non-judgemental, compassionate, and accepting. I am adaptable in my style and fully believe in an individualised approach to each client. To achieve this, I work collaboratively with individuals and may integrate elements of third wave CBT (such as Compassion Focused Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) into the treatment where appropriate. Collaboration is at the centre of my work so that individuals can be fully involved in their treatment and are empowered to manage their own recovery inside and outside the therapy room.
