Professional Profile

My name is Sara and I am a CBT and EMDR therapist, working with Think CBT in Newcastle upon Tyne (NE3). I also provide CBT online via Skype and video link.

I have over 8 years’ experience within the NHS and private practice. I specialise in working with people who are struggling with anxiety disorders, such as panic, worry, social anxiety, phobias, health anxiety, OCD and PTSD. I also support people struggling with life / work stress and sleep problems.

My approach to therapy is to fully understand together the problems that a person is presenting with, and develop a plan with them to tackle the difficulties and help them make positive changes. This may be through using either CBT or EMDR, or a blend or both as appropriate. Therapy might also involves drawing on techniques from other CBT-derived approaches, such as Compassion Focused Therapy and mindfulness.

The overall aim of therapy is to guide and support the person to become their own therapist – understanding what keeps their problem going, how to spot it and put strategies into place that will break them out of the vicious cycle.
