Professional Profile
My name is Jo and I am a fully qualified and BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist.
I work remotely and provide CBT online through video link and telephone.
Prior to qualifying as a CBT therapist, I worked in the field of substance misuse for 10 years working with both adults and adolescents. I have worked for the NHS for the past 7 years now in various clinical settings using a range of evidence-based modalities.
I gained a MSc in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with the University of Salford in 2016, and prior to that in 2013 gained a BSc (Hons) in Child and Adolescent Mental Health with the University of Central Lancashire. More recently I have specialised in long-term conditions, which has enabled me to broaden my skills within the Third Wave Therapies which I have a special interest in Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
I offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy across the spectrum of emotional and psychological disorders which include: Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Health Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Specific Phobias, Depression, Self-esteem, Perfectionism, Work Related Stress, Menopause Symptoms, Chronic Pain & other long term conditions.
I utilise evidence-based strategies, working alongside my clients supporting and encouraging individuals collaboratively to break free from vicious cycles using a wide range of coping skills and techniques towards their therapeutic goals.
I have attended many various skills development workshops and continue to develop my knowledge through continued professional development via workshops, reading, peer support and supervision. I hold a current DBS and have public liability insurance.
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) working to the code of professional practice and ethical standards.
I am very passionate about supporting and empowering people to explore problems and find their own solutions in a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space.
