Professional Profile

My name is Carl and I’m a fully qualified and BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, EMDR Therapist and Clinical Supervisor.

I have over sixteen years experience of working in both primary and secondary care mental health settings, including working within NHS psychological therapies services, prisons and GP surgeries.  I have also worked previously as a qualifed Probation Officer and completed additional training in solution focused life coaching.

My primary interests are in the treatment of anxiety and depression, including the treatment of OCD, generalised anxiety social phobia and post-traumatic stress disorder. I have also undertaken additional training in compassion focused therapy and CBT for long term physical health conditions. I am also trained in EMDR, and have supported clients using EMDR to overcome a variety of difficulties, including phobias and trauma symptoms.

I am an experienced clinical supervisor to both trainee and qualified CBT therapists and completed IAPT supervisor training in 2014 with Surrey University. I attend regular continuing professional development training to ensure my clinical practice remains in line with the latest research and in 2016 I received an employer commendation for clinical expertise and experience.

I currently work with adults aged 18 years and above. My approach to therapy is professional, committed and transparent and I have a compassionate and approachable manner. I believe in building strong alliances with those with whom I work and place the needs of the client at the heart of my practice. I am passionate about CBT because it offers a practical and effective way to overcome difficult thoughts and emotions and helps a person move toward their goals in a collaborative manner.

I abide by the professional and ethical standards laid down by the BABCP and I hold full professional indemnity insurance. I also hold current DBS clearance.
